12 point are user to use, but there are some hazards to this. One, they slip off easier, two, they can round a bolt easier. But there are times when u were in a tight spot and wish u had the 12 point. Also, there are a few 12 point bolts on mustangs. I think your U-joint Yolk has them.
I like sets that have both.
