i went down to oreilly and grabbed some 500F engine block paint, it was Ford Red too

no primer required...i don't remember the brand cuz i'm at work, but the can had a silver label w/ a red big block engine on it

i just cleaned off the caliper and then used a wire brush on a drill to get the caked crap off and get it down to the bare metal and roughed up. i dropped 3 coats on it, and i'll put more on next time it get a chance
