FPR question
How is the stock mustang system setup.
Does my car come with an FPR stock? I know this is a stupid quesiton for some of the adv guys...but I have never really known or asked. If it does, what are the changes between the stock and aftermarket one. Reason I ask is cause my car sometimes dies at idle or low rpm (like if I drive around...stop...turn off car...turn on car within a minute or two...) it will soemtiems die, and I was thinking about getting a new FPR as a solution. Thanks! Thanks, DoranW

No problem! There is no such thing as a stupid question if you are being sincere!, Most of us advanced Windsor troopers are more than happy to help you out!
The stock system is comprised of an in-tank electric fuel pump rated between 88-92 litres per hour, into fuel lines to your motor connected to stainless steel fuel rails that feed 8, 19 lb injectors, regulated with a fuel pressure regulator, there is a thing called the schraeder valve before the rails to check pressure, this is also the spot that you can permanetally install a fuel pressure gauge as well. The answer to your question is YES, your 90 comes with a FPR stock from the factory, BUT it is not adjustable. Changes between stock and aftermarket? what do you mean?, I think you mean as far as settings. The difference is only that the aftermarket is adjustable, usually with a hex key provided, or some other manner. You can still run an "adjustable" regulator at "stock" settings, which is 38-42psi at idle with the vacuum line disconnected, in other words, you disconnect the line, make your adjustments, then reconnect the vacuum line. If your car is dying, it is most likely something else, you need to invest in a inexpensive EEC scan tool ($35) and do a complete tune up first, I suspect faulty sensors or just plain age. Try not to put the cart before the horse. Ever replaced the oxygen sensors?

I have replaced just about all the sensors...can't remember if I did the O2 sensors...will have to check on that one.
Also...this has been doing it only since I have installed my uppper and lower intake manifolds, cam, and headers. I got the b-cam which is not reccomended for AOD, but I am in the process of buying stuff for the T5 conversion. I think that might fix it, but I was wondering if there might be something else to fix it for the mean time, since it might be a while til I undergo the conversion (few months...). Any ideas? Should I just handle it and wait or is there a kind of 'work-around' for the time-being. Thanks, DoranW

well now that you tell me that, I suspect vacuum leaks, the cam and stuff will make it run more erratic, but you are MAF, so its shouldn't be too bad. The more you do the more you see driveability problems.

You think it will be ok once I get my manual?
No workarounds / fixes for now? Thanks, DoranW

It's probably the cam, and there isn't much you can do to tune that out, check for those vacuum leaks and let me know.
My opinion is the manual will change nothing

Then how come it says not reccomended for AOD, but doesn't say anything about manuals?
Thanks, DoranW
