I'm going to have to disagree. I WILL say that going with top shelf stuff tends to get expensive, but if you use your money wisely and look around you could find a shortblock for a reasonable amount. $800 does sound a bit cheap...that's probably stock crank, rods, and aftermarket hypereutic pistons...not notorious for holding up under big power. If you want soemthing to go racing with, expect to pay between $1500-$2000 for a well prepped 306 shortblock with good aftermarket internals.

SloAOD- Where exactly did you get your stuff and what did you use? For a 306 shortblock, costing d@mn near $3K you must have used some hardcore stuff .
