My parents never used the belt/paddle technique....but if I ever f'ed up I'd get my bare *** got spanked a couple times. That is pathetic about the "mental" problems and stuff... I was never punched, but if I said a bad word or something I'd get a quick slap to the face. Nothing to cause a red hand print or a loud slapping noise, just a little whack. My parents never "abused" me or anything.... I always learned after a spanking.... It definitely kept me from doing wrong things. If I thought I was just going to get yelled at for doing something wrong that I wanted to do, I'd pry do it. If I knew I was going to get spanked for it, hell no would I do it, ya know?

My children will be disciplined. Maybe I won't spank them, but they will know not to do it again. No way in hell will I just leave the room and count to 10 and come back later. That's complete BS. Parents need to teach their kids to be respectful and know what's right. Leaving the room and counting to 10 is not an effective method.
