Sounds nice, and welcome to the Mustang community.

If I were you, I would either dump the auto, or work it over, to get the best performance. The AOD is probably the worst tranny Ford ever made, so either have it done right with a good converter, shift kit, valve body, and shifter, or put in a stick. Good luck, and again welcome.
