![]() That used to be the way it was done here. I used to get my Chevelle smogged by having the guy enter my info, and then driving his mid 70's Dodge on the rack, and testing it. But now that's a lot harder. All the smog machines in the state are tied into a network that is monitored, and if similar readings are taken repeatedly (like having a specific car test for others), they are monitored. They also have frequent surveillance of shops with unusually high pass rates. Any shop found BSing a smog certificate get's fined $50k+, and the tech loses his license and get's a huge fine as well. There are still places that do it, but they are very hush-hush, and hard to find.
