Off to the dyno...
I will be dyno/chip tuning my car tomorrow on a Mustang Dyno. Anyone car to play the guessing game?
Still a 302, mild TFS heads E-303/1.72's Systemax II 70 mm t.b. 36 lb injectors/Pro-M 75 Equal shorties H-pipe/cat-back Novi 1000 showing 8 psi. I put on a new blower belt tonight, and hopefully I can get it stretched out by tomorrow so it does not give me too much slippage. The car made 309/310 on motor on a Dynojet, and around 280 on the Mustang dyno. I am guessing around 400 at the rollers. FYI, the track weight of the car is around 3000 lbs in it's current configuration, and trapped 123 mph last time out.

exgmguy - Where are getting the custom tune & chip from? I'm curious as I'm looking to get my 331 dialed in and having my JMS (autologic) chip properly tuned.
As far as the Mustang Dyno goes, can't they adjust all sorts of things like roller resistance? If this is right dyno I'm thinking of, I guess it depends on how their dyno is setup when you strap your car on. Anywho, I'll guess 405 RWHP. Good luck! E

Mustang Dyno.... 360-370 rwhp.
Remember, these typically read 10-15% lower than a Dynojet.

8-rib pulleys
I posted the number on procharger post but I'll put it here for you incase you don't look there, I purchased the complete pulley package fro MIKES MUSTANGS don't have address but here's the phone number (360) 653-4786. I think your dyno pull should be around 390-400 horses.

Warren, Michigan, huh? I bet your going to Lidio. We've had a few guys go out there to MI from the Chicago area because that guy knows his poop. I'll guess 430 at the rear wheels

I'm back.
I have made no changes to my car since the last track outing where I ran mid 11's @ 123.xx mph. I made a baseline pull and about crapped when I saw 350.9 rwhp @ 5500 rpm and 341.5 ft-lbs @ 5250. The car was very lean, and had inaudible detonation. This was with 93 octane gas. We richened it up, and ended up getting 365 rwhp. I then tried a pull without my homemade 3" pvc cold air inlet that grabbed air from the foglight hole, and put the meter and filter where Paxton intended. Next pull, 393 rwhp @ 6000 rpm, and 365 ft lbs! It not only made more peak hp, but under the curve was up through the whole run. I could not believe I picked up almost 30 rwhp by tossing my "good idea". I made 8 psi consistently, with no belt slippage. Now the car is chip tuned, and feels night and day on the street. It actually feels wicked fast. I had the tuning done at Detroit Speedworks, in Warren, Mi. www.detroitspeedworks.com. The owner Greg is a member of this site. (Turbolx) For kicks i'll probably make a Dynojet pull when the weather cools off. 90 degrees and humid is not good air for a blower car. I am not sure what it will do, but on motor I dynoed 270 rwhp on the Mustang Dyno, while netting 309 rwhp on a Dynojet. About a 40 hp difference. Now to put the bottle back in... |

That says something about dynos. They are best used as a tuning tool. The real test is the track. What is weird , is that there are LS1's that make 300 rwhp on his dyno, and trap 110-111, while I made only 50 more rwhp initially, and went 123.
That would be kinda sleeper though. "yeah, i'll run ya, but I only made 350 to the wheels..." Kinda like my "12SECGT" plate. |

393 - well at least I was close (405).
The dyno is a great tuning tool, but just as you said, the track is where it's at. Trapping 123 is impressive in my book. Quick questions for you, exgm - did you have an Autologic chip that was tuned? And did Turbolx use a wide-band 02 as well? Thanks, E

Was the only change in your set-up the Paxton Novi-1000?
I'm very impressed if you picked up 120 hp from just a small blower. Congrats! Now you need to get some new time slips!

Congrats! Those are killer numbers!!!
I wish I could get across the border sometime and get them to dyno my setup and burn a chip for it too. If you don't mind my asking, how much is it? Livernois quoted me at $450 I think, dyno time for an hour plus the chip itself. |

The chip is an Autologic, and it was tuned with a wideband. The air/fuel was set to run on premium pump gas. After being tuned it was in the high 11's (A/F) At the track I always have the option of using race gas, and then adding a little timing and taking out some fuel.
He charged me 450.00 for the chip and the tune. |

That's awesome. So much for good ideas!
That's some power loss though from just removing the homemade contraption. I can't believe it was robbing that much hp. Can't wait to see your #'s when you get back to the track.
