There's a very good chance that the car will convert to fail-safe mode while the CEL if on. It will only come on if a sensor value strays out of a pre-programmed range. The Ford Computer is designed to compensate for this by having a pre-formatted fail-safe mode that will allow the car to "limp" home with phantom values from the missing/faulty sensor readings..
