If you're traveling down I-95 thru the Washington, DC area, I suggest you take the Rt 5/301 exit just South of DC. before crossing the Potomac River entering VA.
The I-95/395 area in VA is a construction nightmare until many miles down I-95 Southbound. Traffic tie-ups and delays sometimes are horrendous. Rt. 5/301 is not a superhighway, but you can make good time on it. You will hit I-95 just North of Richmond. I travel this route every time I go to FL, and I live near the Rt. 5/301 exit. Take a look at you DC area map, and hollar if I can help.
