I'm not so sure gears would add that much MPH. Usually steeper gears drop ET but MPH either stays equal or slows a bit.
I would think with his weight he should be trapping between 104 and 106 though. I think with tune and Gears. In any event going from 3:08s to 3:73 should put him in the power band quick and through the traps. In theory, MPH should increase not go down. However if he was increasing from 3:73 to 4:10's your logic would make more scense as top end would not improve much if at all. Just my .02. Go get that thing tuned and hit the track again.!!
