![]() well, it looks like i will be getting a 5.0 again, there isnt eanough 60's stangs in good shape(no rust) around at a reasonable cost.
i was thinking about getting a 5.0, ill take a stick, or auto, but i was wondering what kinda times do the 87-93 5.0's turn with an aod factory stock? also, how do they launch compared to the 5 speeds(i could only manage a best of 2.181 in the 60' in the gt) this stang will be a drag car, with the occasional drive around town on nice nights, but no where near daily driving. now, doing an aod-c4 conversion, how much power would you gain to the wheels(if any)? i was thinking of going with about a 3000rpm stall, and a shift kit if i do go with an auto, but i dont know anything about them. the car will have a turbocharger or two in the future, so it will have a little bit of power, but i want the tranny to be able to take it. thanks

![]() If you're considering staying with the AOD, I'd recommend that you check out the Lentech AOD line. They offer brute strength and reliability with the ability to keep O/D for street duty. If its going to be a drag car I'd consider more than a 3000rpm stall though. I'd look at something like about 4400 minimum to get good 60' performance.

![]() I forget what some of the 1/4 mile numbers are on a stock '87-93 mustang w/AOD but they were usually about 4-5 tenths slower than the 5 speed cars.

![]() I don't think you'll gain any RWHP converting to a C4, I think the AOD is about as efficient as you get for an auto.
Hopefully you'll be able to find a clean car, I'll keep my eyes open for you. Have you considered buying the wreck of your old one and transplanting everything into a clean 4cyl. car?

![]() I have a 93 5.0 with an AOD that has hardened parts and a newly installed Lentech Street Terminator Valve Body. I didn't go with a Torque Convertor due to cost and the fact I want power with somewhat of a smooth ride (something a higher stall would remove).
The VB gives you a nice 1-2-3 and a switch for OD instead of the crappy stock 1-2/3-OD. I now have control over my gears COMPLETELY. As for times...well with a full exhaust change, 3.73 gears and a MAC Cold Air Kit, I got the time and speed in my SIG.
