I don't think you'll gain any RWHP converting to a C4, I think the AOD is about as efficient as you get for an auto.
Hopefully you'll be able to find a clean car, I'll keep my eyes open for you. Have you considered buying the wreck of your old one and transplanting everything into a clean 4cyl. car?
