I'm not sure if this would be enough fuel for your 396. The fuel system should not be considered a "power adder". If adding more fuel makes your car go faster, then you were in lean position before. Not good. More is ALWAYS better. My little mid 12 comet with 351 has a 1/2" fuel line front to back with two 8an lines to the carb after the reg. I think this set up is just enough for this car. You will make alot more hp with your set up than I am right now. Another point, metal lines flow more than an hoses, they are more of a pain, but worth the time to bend up.
