Ok, I am going to throw something out there it might sound a little crazy but here it goes. Find a countersunk screw and glue it to the center of the capon the inside, use something like JB weld. Next cut apiece of metal that is the width of the hole, drill a hole in the center and attach the two together with a lockwasher and nut. This would keep you from losing them but be careful not to tighten too much or the JB might release.

It sounds like a rig job but it might work
