You should post this in Modular Madness. The 96 Tbird and Mustang 4.6 motors are pretty much identical, so they should be able to give you some helpfull advice??? As for the O2 sensors, if the car has over 50,000 miles it's not a bad idea to swap in new ones anyways. Maybe you could offer to install them for her???

Sounds like it needs a good diagnostic check and tuneup to me. Since that is a OBDII car, it shoud be easier to diagnose??
