![]() Why would you replace a 28 spline axle with another 28 spline axle? I went to a 31 spline and the difference is huge, the 31 spline is at least 20% thicker than the 28 spline. You have to replace the diff too, but it should be a one shot deal, unless you grenade the diff. As far as C clip eliminators, I've heard nothing but problems with them when you drive them on the street. You might as well have a spool if your going to run c-clip eliminators.
My understanding is the C-clip elims are required for cars doing 10.99 or better becuse they actually have enough power to shoot the axle out the side of the car if the c-clips fail. The axles are actually attached (loosely speaking) at the housing with the eliminators, they won't slide out if the diff grenades or the c-clip fails. This is my understanding of how it works anyway, don't shoot me if I messed up on some details. ![]()
