The ONLY chips worth money are the ones a professional tuner makes with YOUR car on the chassis dynamometer, and has the chip custom made for YOUR car. I had a pooper-chip in my '87. It made a horrible pinging up above 3500rpm @ WOT, made it run rich (had to clean my tailpipes every couple days!), and didn't make troubleshooting any easier. Since the conversion to Mass Air, I haven't had a single complaint. Better mileage and no pinging....well only complaint is lack of traction now!

The only company I can really say makes a better computer product is Saleen, who makes an entire performance computer box. It completely replaces your stock EEC computer. Unfortunately, those computers are available only for 1997-2001 Mustangs only.

My best advice to you is to unlock the potential of your engine one step at a time and let the computer alone. Ford's EEC-IV is a VERY versatile unit and requires very little -- if any -- tweaking, until you get into the upper power levels. Read "upper power levels" as 500+ Horsies. You don't say what year, model, engine, or transmission you have, much less your modifications (or those planned), so until then I can't help you in any specific areas. Hope this didn't discourage you. Good luck.
