I'm not sure if this applies to other years, but on a 73, there is nothing in the VIN code that indicates whether it's a Mach. There's a digit in there to indicate fastback, but that's not exactly hard to tell.

The only place on my car where the Mach status is indicated is on the door tag, so that may apply to you too. If course it's possible that things were totally different in '69.
