Hey all you guys seem to be right on. But, since I just put together a monster 351 I'll add my 2cents. The 4v manifold will bolt up to 2v heads, DONT DO IT, he's right the performance will go out the window. Puddles of unburned fuel on the manifold floor and stuff like that. 4v heads for $30 that is cheep, make sure they are 351 heads and not 400"s. Also if your buying 4v heads go for the closed chamber ones. As long as we're dreaming hear have them machined to run screw in studs, adjustable valve trains are nice. Install a mech cam and you've got a BOSS351.
As far as intakes 2v heads go with something like a performer, or a Weiand stealth. I'm running 4v heads so I went with the Weiand Excelerator, this things revs like there will be no tomorrow! To help the low end torque , with the 4v heads use port plates. They cut down the intake port size enough to bring the intake charge velocity to respectful levels. Those with the long runners of the manifold make quiet a package. I put a 700 holley carb up top, with 750 booster ventri, and shooters. Havent put it on a dyno yet but cant wait! |
