Default Ok Oil Reading 101?

Not seeming cynical here but when you added the 5 quarts, did you immediately read level? Then turn over, let oil pump through and then shut off, wait about 10-15 minutes and then read level again?

If the oil is checked immediately after starting/stopping, some oil will remain in the upper part of the engine, resulting in an inaccurate reading..... I'm not sure how your dipstick reads, but for my 98 between the MIN and the MAX hatches it takes one quart to rise to MAX level. So, if it was me and I just pulled an immeidate read it would look like I had one quart too much in there because the last quart is still residing in the upper part of the engine.

But hey, an oil change and refill won't harm anything. Good practice, Boss!
