Obviously you are running a clutch cable conversion also if you are using the 5 oh bell.......
5.0L bell for T5 is 7/8" longer than toploader. This is why folks use adapter plates with T5, TKO's when using early factory stock bells.

On my T5 installation with '69 351 toploader bell (164 tooth) and spacer plate behind Motorsport 302, the shifter is in exactly the same position it was with the toploader 4-speed. I even use the factory boot, trim escutcheon and modified 4 speed shifter handle on my car. The TKO may be a bit different in position but not by very much. I think you've got nil worries here...
