I tried what you said with the Ultra black, but it was not even close to sealing it. The bead was super thick as well. It just isn't going to seal without jerry rigging. I don't know if it was manufactured improperly or what. I will just put the stock one back on and get the Edelbrock check out after measuring the gap. Thanks everyone.

P.S. That does make sense about the vacuum... It would have to be measured from within the lifter galley and well, I know that isn't possible.
