Trying to get Edelbrock's attention.
I'm sick and tired of being told the only aftermarket manifold available is the Bullitt intake at freaking $2,000! So I called the best place I could think of to try and get answers: Edelbrock.
Unfortuantly, an aluminum intake for the 4.6 is not even in development. So I am pretty much fucked and relegated to backyard mechanics to try and do something better. That would mean trying to port plastic, which doesn't should like the best idea. Here's the best idea. Everyone e-mail Edelbrock at edelbrock@edelbrock.com and get on their nerves to the point where they get off their asses on this. The mod cars aren't going anywhere, and we need to start getting the aftermarket support we so desperatly need. Even if you don't have one, get on the bus, and shoot them an email. Chances are you will have a modular engine in the future, unless of course you never buy a new Mustang again. Thanks!

Check this out. You guys might be of some interest. It made real good numbers on a blower application.

Those are some great numbers. I think there is a bigger market for a longer runner intake, I know us N/A guys need it.

Ford racing has an aluminum intake available. You have to but it as a package- comes with new throttle body and strut tower brace, all for $1500 plus $300 for install kit.

deuce: whats up!!
the bullit intake will only work with 99+heads! the frpp intake will work with 96-98 heads! fyi. I tried emailing edelbrock like 3 yrs ago for an intake and well, yea they still haven't made one! you should get some 99+ heads for yours! It ups the compression and it made a world of diffence on my old 96 gt. your heads are whats kiling you not the intake! my 96 gt was one of the few that put down 300rwhp N/A!! I couldn't drive for crap but it would run 103mph at fontana in the summer(1100ft elevation). I'm sure it would do 105mph at C/bad. Anyways good luck! Leon

If they do an intake it would be nice if they used phenolic between the heads and the runners to help insulate the manifold. The plastic intake don't conduct heat good, so there is some benefit beyond cheap to produce and light weight.
I don't know how compromised the factory piece is (maybe plenum volume?? and port entry??), but it just has to handle air and no fuel. which makes big gains from the aftermarket harder to do. IMO it would be like a set of mufflers, support piece for bigger airflow needs. That said, I wouldn't mind something along the lines of the Cobra R intake, but for 2v apps. Its pretty much just a gaggle of velocity stacks with a lid, so architecture isn't to hard. Although runner length might be tricky. Then again anybody remeber that funky boxed affair they had for BB Chevys (I think it was accel) Open the lid and it had pressed air-horns extending runner length.
