I had the same problem with an 86 GT I had. I replaced alot of expensive stuff only to find out the battery ground cable had rotted and corroded on the inside of the wire insulator where you couldnt even see it. Take a jumper cable and hook it to the negative battery post then to a good ground somewhere on the engine. A friend came over and did this to mine and it started right up.
