![]() I hate to say this, because it almost always starts a debate, but a lesson I learned during my brief work in NASCAR was that, while higher oil pressure is often desirable, an engine doesn't really require very much. The general rule of thumb is 10 psi per 1000 rpm. If you can maintain that, you will not suffer any engine damage from low oil pressure. What is most important is that you are getting an accurate oil pressure reading, and that can best be accomplished with a quality mechanical gauge.
