![]() I can't tell you what gaskets you want to use, but i can tell you that i've heard you want to go 1" into the intake port for better diameter blending. I've heard that on both EFI and carbureted engines you want to leave a satin finish in the intake ports to leave a little bit of turbulance in the air stream to mix the air/fuel on the way into the cylinders. It's more critical in carbureted vehicles, but it's still important in FI engines as well.
As for polishing i've heard two sides of the argument. 1. you smooth it mirror finish to eliminate any air friction for higher flow, or 2. You leave that a satin finish as well so that carbon can build up in the porous surface and the carbon will retain heat in the exhaust better, which retains more energy and speeds up the exhaust flow. A B-cam with 1.7 roller rockers will give you something like 284* total duration and .512" gross lift, which is about the maximum for the stock piston notches. I just bought a B-cam to go with my 1.7's and GT40 heads, which i'll be porting as well. Hope this helps.
