the light comes on for a few reasons. it comes on to tell you that your battry is not charging and under a certain voltage. also to let you know the bulb is good. now if the light is on when the car is running then you have a battery or alternator problem.
if the car cranks fine and the light goes away after it starts then you dont have a problem.
