Default Bleeding the lines

Okay, I got power to the motor again. Was a circuit breaker.

Now I'm back to my original problem of the top not raising smoothly or evenly. I have checked and filled the fluid in the motor. Now in the process of bleeding the lines. This is very frustrating as I get fluid squirting everywhere!

I will admit that I am a novice at this car stuff, but am learning. I am trying to get my hands on a used shop manual, but these are hard to come by (I've checked online). I'm thinking there has to be a trick to bleeding these lines, it shouldn't be this difficult!

Thanks again!
John
