If you really want a classic sound, get the Thrush super turbos, now made by Dynomax. They sound killer, and enough different from flows to be good.
I prefer a straight through, so I'm going with Magnaflows and my Pro-chamber, which is sitting in the garage. A side exhaust looks cool, but I have to warn you, there's added backpressure from an additional bend to get the pipe up there.
