I wouldn't worry about the T5 until the synchros/blocker rings start grinding or until you lose a gear. The T5's are pretty durable for street use. The one in my GT has been in use for 50k some odd miles and the previous owner said the previous trans was fine until he let his girlfriend start driving the car. All of the T5 cars i've ever owned have made tons of noise and i test drove a '95 GT with a T5 and it made a fair amount of noise as well. Unless you're using slicks you probably won't have to rebuild it for a long time.
