Unfortunately no the 2 is 2nd and 3rd only and d is 1st 2nd 3rd... ford claimed in inclement weather you could then start out in 2nd to promote better traction. What I had to do in an fairlane i used to have was launch in d let it shift to 2nd then to hold second i would then put the shifter into 2 and then back to d for the shift to 3rd(although with that valve body it would automaticly shift to 3rd around 95ish which with the 289 that was in that car was just a little late) . The only contrtol you have over the 1-2 shift is to adjust you vacumn modulater and make sure you downshift linkage is adjusted properly.
