i think all that you have to do is spray the inside of the tube with wd-40 and it will stretch over , i cant remember but thats all i think we did on my friends car its mass air. so it is a little easier to move around. you could also sand down the inside a little to see if that helps
i guess the condition of the rubber matters , in stead of buying a CAI go to a diesel shop and see what they will charge for cutting some diesel exhaust th fit . I got my turbo tubing from a diesel shop for $100.00 cut and coated
