You can grind it out and possibly get some gain if your engine needs the extra flow at high rpm's. what your doing when grinding out the divider is opening up the plenum so that each cylinder will see both side of the carb instead of just one. a songle plane intake has an open plenum where all cylinders will see all 4 barrels of the carb instead of just 2 like a dual plane does. also a single plane intake has straight runners and a dual pane has runners that cross over and are longer to work better at low to mid rpm's.
