my car smoked really bad from the day i bought it, and it kept getting worse and worse. well my oil pump went so when i took the motor apart to rebuild it the problem was just what we had suspected. The oil rings literally fell out of the pistons into pieces. They were upside down, gapped wrong! the culprit of months of smoke and using additives and thicker oils etc... was a set of $30 oil rings.... when i would start my car it would smoke and it wouldnt smoke the entire time i was driving, a lot at idle though.. if this sounds like your car u might want to investigate the rings...
