Default 03 COBRA vs 03 EVO, need input here.

Check out this post and see how accurate this is. I don't believe the claims, does anyone have facts to share about this?

Here is the thread: http://www.3.8mustang.com/forum/show...threadid=42813

I'd like to find side by side comparisons of these two cars. I don't buy it that a stock EVO can take an 03 Cobra.

Funny you should say that...

In the June issue of Motor Trend they test several new "sports" cars. Two of them being the 03 Cobra and EVO...

Here's the results: (Please be aware that Motor Trend is notorious for having CRAPPY drivers)

1/4 mile:
EVO 13.08@105.12
03 Cobra 13.01@110.69
(At a 110 trap speed, I would think we should be seeing something a bit better than a straight 13)

0-60:
EVO 4.59 sec
03 Cobra 4.82 sec (damn weight...)

0-100-0:
EVO 16.56
03 Cobra 15.67

Standing Mile:
EVO: 35.1@142.4
03 Cobra: 33.5@151.4

600 foot slalom:
EVO 71.4 mph
03 Cobra 65.4 mph

Top Speed:
EVO 156
03 Cobra 159

All in all in stock trim... the Cobra has the slight edge in straight line performance

But remember... while the EVO is pretty much maxed out, the Cobra is a few bolt-ons away from about 500 hp...

stock for stock the Cobra will beat the Evo but it will be close.

Hammer the Evo is by far not maxed out. There are a couple in the low 12's already with exhuast and a boost controller.

I think both modded would be a good and interesting fight

The evo is ****** ugly. Its too narrow, has 4 doors and comes stock with a park bench on the trunk.

Those test are AWD evo vs RWD cobra so obviously the evo has a big time traction advantage. Throw some slicks on the cobra and bye bye evo

I prefer the WRX over the evo.

Hmm, after looking into it... You're right...

But there is a limit to how much more boost you can throw on an engine... Hell, its already at 19 lbs stock....

My personal belief is that while power adders are great, you should never rely on them for a large percentage of your horsepower.... they're hell to tune and a bugger to maintain if you just keep turning that little boost controller knob. Eventually it will catch up to you....

In my opinion, its a much better idea to have a good output NA setup and then put about a 6-8 lb blower\turbo on it.

To each their own I guess....

I haven't seen any info on the Evo, but I know, based on other models, that there is only so much that stock block can handle. Even for the Cobra. In stock trim, the Evo is one hell of a ride. I would gladly take one..........to the nearest SVT dealer, and trade it in for the Cobra.

In all seriousness, the Lancer is really cool, but it's still only a 4 cyclinder. Just my $0.02.

I would rather have the WRX STi. 300hp/300tq out of a 2.5L turbo flat four. That and it isnt butt ugly like the Evo is

Default O3 COBRA vs 03 EVO

I have more than a few mods on my 03 Cobra and now have 525 rwhp and I doubt any EVO could stay up with me. Ricers are so delusional.

This is so funny me and my buddy got in an argument about this 2 weeks ago. We where looking at the motor Trend and I told him the EVO was a ***** car. he said it would smoke a Cobra I laughed. He then said well all you have to do is put a small turbo kit on and will run tens!!

Car and Driver had the 03 Cobra at 12.9 in the quarter. So I mean if we magizane race the the 03 cobra is faster. But who knows bad drivers can make this a whole new story. The EVO is still Gay.

Lata yall

Cool

I think the question should be, are the 03 Cobra and 03 EVO in the same category?

Similar performance numbers doesn't point to the same buying demographic.

They are definitely a different category, but that won't stop all of the little rice boys from braggin about smoking Cobra's and other stupid stuff like that.

Oh well, like I said I don't care how fast the car is if it looks like crap, which the EVO most definitely does.
