Points to consider:
Buying a car in primer takes a sharp eye to distinguish body condition. Many primered cars look like crap when painted. Buying a six cylinder car and getting the engine isn't the bargain it seems. You still need a lot of components to make the car a V8 clone. As a clone, it will never have the resale value of a V8 car with similar features. The guy who owns it likely wants to dump it now that he understands all the issues concerning the car. It likely has other problems like bad floors, bad cowls, etc. There's an old adage, you get what you pay for and this sounds like just such a case. Your prospective purchase is not a diamond in the rough, right now its just an old car. |
