A carb spacer would just make it worse. A spacer adds RPM, but loses low end.
But u do have to match the intake to the heads, rpm wise. The heads gasket sthey are reconmending are prob for alum heads. They cost more, but are worth it. Since alum expands more the steel, u would tear up a normal gasket.
