I have Allstate full coverage on my car. My G/F's sister has Liberty Mutual full coverage on her's. As was stated above, both our policies cover the acts of other licensed drivers who have our permission to drive the cars. So even though my GF has no insurance policy of her own, she can safely and legally drive both cars.

I hope this helps and good luck with your terrible situation. Her dad may really be the best way to go. Unfortunately, the family situation may be even more dicey than the insurance one.
