I can't speak for DSL as I use a cable modem. I am not sure of the exact speeds, but I also find that most things are almost instant on my computer.
If I were you I would just shop around and find the best deal, regardless of whether it is DSL or cable. I think you would be happy with either one, so just go out and find the best price. Mr. 5.0 - Nice to see you around again  !
