Default fast connection for the net

Well i`m gonna take the plunge, I`m getting rid of this dialup connection. Problem is I`m not sure what is the best way to go. I was thinking of getting road runner, Anybody have any suggestions? I just got into watching the media files and they are awesome!!! Problem is they take about 5 min to load.

Smile DSL vs Cable

I prefer DSL. I have a package from my phone company (SBC) that runs me $39.95 per month - for everything. I enjoy a max of 1.5Mbps downstream speed, 256Kbps upstream and with my (faster) new computer (2.8 GHz) everything I do on the internet is very near instant. This is why I recommend DSL - but I'm sure cable users have equally positive things to say about cable broadband. I can only offer you what I know, and that is that DSL is great. Easy, self- installation too.

I can't speak for DSL as I use a cable modem. I am not sure of the exact speeds, but I also find that most things are almost instant on my computer.

If I were you I would just shop around and find the best deal, regardless of whether it is DSL or cable. I think you would be happy with either one, so just go out and find the best price.

Mr. 5.0 - Nice to see you around again !

I had 28.8 up until a few months ago

Now my DSL connection is like a lil slice of heaven, Can't go wrong w/ cable or DSL IMHO,

Really only matters if you download a lot of stuff like those MP3's, Roadrunner is what I have and it runs 100Mbps. But not all places you go on the net are that fast. Get the cheapest one unless like I said you download a lot. Either one will be a real up grade and you will enjoy. Also down't know about DSL but cable is on 100% of the time I have never had a drop off in over a year on cable. Also great if you play online games like chess or 100's of other on say the MSN game zone. I play chess a lot and used to get very frustrated with drop off's. They actually penalize your rating if drop off on more than 2 games.

Default Satellite?

Just wondering if anyone is connected to the web through a satellite (such as DSS or something) ?????

Wondering how good it is, if anyone knows

I've had cable and DSL, and DSL is superior in my little mind.
