I'm surprised you even got it up. My motor went bad and I tried pulling it up when the button was pressed, but the motor didn't even respond. Later on I just tapped on the motor with a hammer while she held the button and the top went right up. Meaning I have a bad motor and it sounds like you do too. Get it replaced or look for any loose cables holding the top back.
