Default OK..Need opinions

I guess Ive been around the show car scene longer than ive been a mustang freak. But since I am a Mustang freak I am building the 86 coupe with 429... NOW if I were to put neon lights under the car would I be ricing it out. .I understand that neon underglo is considered rice but wouldnt the Big block over rule the rice effect??

I just really like the lights under a car..

IMO if you are showing or doing something different with the use of the car, then I don't think it's being "Riced."

On the other hand, just for riding around town I think it's ghey.

Old saying goes, If you like it, why not it's your car.

Hey its your car if that is what you like then go for it. As long as you like it that is what maters. Besides if anyone says anything you can always ask them how big their's is.

LOL

Here's my opinion which I guess is very similar to mustangII460's: you like it, then do it. It is your money and your car.

But then again.... Okay, I guess it's like this for me, if you are gonna cruise a lot with the car, and say park in a parking lot for a while, as long as the rest of your car isn't blinga blingin, and the fact that your car will not be ricey, b/c I'm pretty sure you know better, and you cut on the neons of a mild color, it won't look bad.

I'd say go for it! but I wouldn't ride around with them on-- only when the car is parked.

And here's my disclaimer: *These are not my opinions, but pure facts which cannot and may not be disputed in the least.*

depends on your color combo. some cars IMO can pull it off well while others look lame.

Well since my dad owned a sign company for 37 years and was a neon glass blower ( i use to watch him do it for hours) I even tried my hand at it for awhile. I know how they heat it and bend it and pump an extremely high vacuum in it then put gas in, ( its only neon if its a red or pink or orange, if its white blue green yellow or any of those colors, its argon) i also know how they install it and how it works ... it looks really cool in a sign when properly done ... in a car ... it looks gay
sorry thats my 2 cents worth.

The first car I ever saw with neon was a late 70's Vette, Black, limo tint, lowered slightly, seemingly sitting on an unholy purple glow I think it looked mean. The difference between rice and modified is a fine line called overkill/taste. I think well done neon on a nice car can look good, as long as its not already gaudy, is done well, (i.e. you cant see "light bar reflections" off the pavement) and works with the overall design/color/theme of the car.
Just my .02

J

Besides, if the car has the balls to back up your panache, it GREATLY lessens the "rice effect"

Thumbs down Say No to Neon!

Neon lights on any part of any car are -in my opinion - rice - as well as ghey. Bad idea - and the big block won't cancel it out, either. Neon is for ricers. Don't go there.

There will be nothing what so ever about my car thats ricey. Just black and a good lookin set of wheels.

Thats exactly the look im going for. .Low mean and nasty....
I was thinking a blue color but nothing extremely bright.. something that is just hardly noticed.. not something that really stands out.

Thanks for the opinions

A good example of a car that can pull off neon would be the opening shot of the Dodge PPG Turbo Interceptor from the movie "The Wraith". The car doesent actually have neon, but the first shot of it is backlit with a colored floodlight so you get kind of a neon effect under the car. I'm sure some of the others here know the shot I'm talking about

Now if I can just find one for sale, lol.

If you got a 429 Big Block in a Fox Body Stang, I think you earned the right to do what ever the hell you want to.

Be it Glowing Fuzzy Dice, Neons, Illuminated Shift knob (X-trmly Gay), Fuzzy Dash padding, and alinumim racing Power window Switches.

Although my taste would not be to put any of those on the car, I would make it look as mundane as possible, hide anything and everything that shows speed and power. The only hint would be if they took a close look at the interior (Roll Cage), a close look at the tires, or the sound...Those you cant hide.

But what ever floats your boat. Or, as it goes between me and my friends, What ever Floats your Clutches. (Long Story)
