The trick is this, you want to get the smallest slick you can get away with. The bigger the slick the bigger the drag is going to be on the car on the top end. If you need to be at a higher RPM at the finish line then yea...use the 26 inch tire.
Example. I use a 26 inch tire on motar. A 28 inch tire with spray.
