Your original post is sort of confusing. Do you have stud mount or pedestal mount? I don't understand what you mean by "head head on".
If they are pedestal mount, you need to torque to about 18 ft-lbs, but you have to reach that torque in 1/4 to 1 turn after zero lash. If you can't reach the torque in that given range, then you'll either need to add or remove shimming beneath the pedestal. If you've got pedestal mount, then the torque to preload is irrelevant. You'll turn the poly-lock 1/4 to 1 turn past zero lash then lock down the poly-lock as tight as you can get it.
