![]() the oil burning issues were all an exageration from a small number of engines that had issues in the VERY early days.
The 342 is the exact same thing as a 347, except its utilizing a new stock 4" bore block. It is not bored out 0.030" like the 347, hence the 5cid less. The 331 is a 327 when using the stock bore, just FYI I've always felt that if you are going to bother with a stroker, why not go all out? A 331 just seems like you went to alot of trouble and spent a lot of money, on something that isn't THAT much more cid than stock. To each his own I guess. I went with an Eagle 347 kit with SRP pistons, cast crank, and forged I beam rods, and I absolutely love it. It makes an amazing amount of torque down low, and a suprising amount of power higher in the RPM range (considering the heads I have). anyway, thats what I would reccomend. Most of the bigger vendors have a pretty good reputation as far as I've seen, so I dont think you can't go wrong as long as you pick a big name.
