Had a BB 400 in a 77 ford 4x4, it was a piece of **** !!!!!!!!!!!!! from what i heard it was based on the 351M motor (but that was along time ago so don't quote me)...

swapped it for a 360, what a difference...

sorry not much help, but I would say no to the $300 motor... at a minimum, you have alot of $$$$ to spend to make it a dependable motor..

Black,84 GT,ground effects,shorty headers, 'open' dual exh.,302 HO(no pollution control crap)bored .060,T5,89 ported heads,edelbrock Performer manifold, Edelbrock 2122 cam,600 Holley, high volume oil pump...
