Why not go with a "high flow" catted pipe? There's not much difference in HP (your 281 needs some back pressure) and the sound is still "racey". Besides, you won't have to worry MUCH about emissions inspections or the Police. Maryland is an ODBII test now but visuals are coming soon. Just my opinion, I've been using a catted X-pipe since 1998 with no problems.
