I just installed a new MSD TFI coil on my car and now it has a noticable humming/whining comming from the general area of it. You can hear it more inside the car than under the hood, even with the radio off. What gives? is it supposed to do this? I have a set of new FMS 9mms in a box i'm going to put on, will this do anything to quieten it down?

had same exact problem with TFI coil. cintacted MSD they said to isolate coil with rubber grommets, dd that and did not help anything. heard its common problem in mustang. i am returning mine to summit and going with the BLASTER SS, the re ine with the fine. requires a little more work to blot up and u cant use the stock connector, but i will give it a try. that BLASTER TFI noise was too much to get used to, annoyed the piss out of me!

yeah, they do that.. I put mine in and thought I had a bad flourescent light ballast in my car.. It just hums like hell. Essentially you have changed your spark voltage and current enough to where the difference is like that of rubbing your feet on carpet and touching a door knob to licking a bug zapper.

It's normal, almost all aftermarket coils do it.

My MSD Blaster SS coil is silent. Or at least I've never noticed any hum, etc.
