New engine for my 67 mustang

I am going to be going from a 6cly to a 8 too, and from what i have read/heard, you dont need to swap everything out at once. Also, the hood thing would make no sense, it would have been too much work for FoMoCo. What I am thinking about doing, is just putting a 302 in there, and then when something breaks, replace it! I was also told its a good idea just to get a donor vehicle.
